I was just watching something sad on tv and suddenly wanted to add an idea to my list of "what i want to change about the world" items.

our beautiful whales are one of the most gentle creatures on earth, gliding peacefully along from one end of the earth to the other. huge in size but peaceful and free. the females are wonderful mothers, spending more than a year nurturing their young and teaching them. they are so huge and yet they have their own natural predator; the killer whales. it was extreme heartbreak watching a pod of killer whales, so intelligent and so powerful, separating the mother grey whale from her calf and killing the calf to feed on it. well, for a lion killing an antelope or zebra, i wouldnt be this upset. it must be the motherly love kinda thing, as though we knew how the mother whale felt, losing her calf..it must have been frustrating, watching her calf being attacked by all the killer whales and not having any power to chase them away. although i did watch another documentary which showed me the strong motherly love of one single mommy whale. this certain mommy whale i watched stayed with her calf throughout the whole attack, everytime the killer whales separated them, she swam back and everytime they attacked her calf, she tried to protect it and she kept it up for a long time until the killer whales finally gave up and her calf and herself survived. the game of endurance i will call it, now this is heartwarming.

so after watching one baby whale die today, if i could change one thing about the world, then perhaps i wanna wish that killer whales are not the whales' natural predators. :)

and then again, as if we didn't have anymore trouble losing whale numbers, we just HAD to kill them for their meat. why can't we just leave them alone already? I just read an article on yahoo saying the IWC will be extending their negotiations on the limitations on whaling. i hope that we are able to buy more time for these whales to reproduce and recover their numbers before we wipe them out completely and unknowingly....

Hey guys, i was just updating my blog and decided to blog here as well.

Have wanted to share about the Saving Gaia campaign ever since i saw it on telly. Have you guys seen it? if not, here is the link!

http://www.savinggaia.sg/index.htm

Not too much on the website though, just a video, some tips and a link setup to make your pledge. my favourite quote from one of the kids: "In my world, everyone will want to save the earth." Simple and sweet, tugs at your heartstrings this one does.

It's nice to see Singapore doing our part to help our environment, not like we dont do it, but i think these are more urgent times, 20 yrs ago, we still had a strong ozone layer, now we have created a hole in it. Never mind whose fault that is, what's important is how we can save it now. Like putting a bandaid on an injury, very heartwarming right:)? kids create the perfect image for this campaign and i hope they create more ads to keep the awareness going. GOOD JOB MEDIACORP!

Well, i've made my pledge and i think i wanna start helping to save our Earth. My dad makes us switch off the main power of the electrical appliances at home and it really does help the PUB bills! haha, so go do it!

I should start using more woven bags for groceries.
I should sleep early and not use the computer so much because it uses up lots of energy!
And hmmm, i shall try and take shorter showers.

ok, three things for now. Tomorrow, bigger things. :)

ok, till next time then!
